DEAR FRIENDS AND ENEMIES,

1. Whose are all the faces that bear the lyrics in the digipak, and why were they chosen?
Submitted by Dan.

The idea for the artwork required a healthy mix of facial types, age and gender. A request was put out on the Big Heavy Stuff email group for fans to turn up on a certain day and time in Sydney and have their photo taken. Roughly 200 people had their photo taken on the day, some of whom are now undoubtedly surprised and (hopefully delighted) to find themselves part of the artwork. In amongst the fans are band members and people who worked on the album.

2. What's the story behind the farm noises leading into So Your News Can Reach Me on the album?

Submitted by Daniel.

What you hear there is Greg & Carolyn's backyard in the Blue Mountains, complete with their own chooks and the panting of their dog. The idea was probably just to capture something that would remind the whole band of the time spent recording in the mountains, but only Greg & Carolyn know for sure.

3. With Goliath's instruments being just grand piano and cello, was it still written on acoustic guitar like the rest of the songs?
Submitted by Daniel.

Yes, in fact Goliath was first rehearsed as a full rock song. However, when it came to recording the album, it looked like the song might not make the ever growing list. One night at the studio, Eliot played Goliath on the piano and Greg started singing along. Wayne Connolly suggested putting it down, and after setting up a few microphones, Greg and Eliot performed a second take which is what you hear on the album. Sophie Glasson's cello parts were added later at Greg & Carolyn's house during additional recording with Dave Trump.

4. 'I Should Have Seen This Coming' is my fave track at the moment. I have no idea what the hell it's about though. What happened to that kid next door?

Submitted by Muzzy.

Eliot had a theory that the song was about a local man who was tragically run down in front of Greg & Carolyn's house, however Greg disputes this only to hint that it's about "a relationship".
